This guide is to give a beginner a feel for the layout and general idea how Joomla displays content. Once grasped, you wont want to go back to writing static pages!
Joomla can be installed in any directory on your server, so if you want an opening page with a link to your Joomla install, you can have an index.html file in your public_html directory linking to your joomla site. Your index.html file is your 'Home Page'. Alternatively, your home page will be the joomla frontpage if you install joomla in the public_html directory. If you are still learning the Joomla layout, it would be best to have your site installed with some sample data. That way you can see the way everything is set out. You can then replace the articles and menus with your own content. |
